Here’s an excerpt of my interview with the lovely Natalia, the wedding coordinator from beautiful Mount Lofty House.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your venue?

A: Sure! We are a hotel and function venue in the Adelaide Hills. We have 33 accommodation rooms, 3 cottages, 7 function rooms, and 5 ceremony locations and 2 restaurants. We hold a variety of events here including birthdays, engagements, conferences, but more than anything we do the most weddings. Everyone at Mount lofty house is committed to making the guest experience a memorable one, whether you are staying the night, dining in our restaurant or holding a function.

Q: Do you target any particular niche?

A: All people are welcome at Mount Lofty House – we don’t have a specific target market.
Q: What makes your business unique?

A: There are quite a few things I like to think make us unique. One of them is that we’re an all-in-one venue. So for weddings, people can stay here the night before, get ready onsite, have their ceremony, followed by pre-drinks, photos on our beautiful grounds and their reception. Quite often guests will stay the night and all meet for breakfast the next day as well.

We were established in 1852 so we have a lot of history, including part of Mount Lofty House being burnt down in the Ash Wednesday Fires. We have been slowly re-establishing this over the years.

We are also the highest hotel above sea level in South Australia. We like to think that being the highest hotel, we give the highest service and the highest love!

 

 

Q: So what’s your favorite part of your job?

A: I would say making people’s dreams of their perfect wedding day come true. I build very special relationships with the people and I get a lot of fulfilment out of seeing them happy. I feel very satisfied with every wedding executed and it’s a beautiful thing to witness the love that people share on a daily basis.

Q: How do you help couples customize their wedding?

A: We have a series of planning meetings to make sure that all of their different ideas and hopes for their wedding day are planned for accordingly. We have a very flexible approach to weddings and we aim to tailor everything and anything to the individual couple.

Q: Do you have any advice for couples looking for suppliers for their wedding day?

A: My recommendation would be to use suppliers that are familiar with the venue and how Mount Lofty House execute their weddings. That makes it easier and smoother running on the day.

Q: What is your venue capacity?

A: Our capacity would range from 4 – 200 people dependant on the type and style of the wedding.

Q: What is the best advice you have given to a couple planning their wedding?

A: The best advice I could possibly give to a couple planning their wedding is for them to try and enjoy the process as much as possible and not get too stressed (easier said than done I know!). Helping them is what I’m here for, so all they need to do is communicate what they want and I will take care of the rest. Don’t lose sight of what the wedding is really all about – to marry your chosen life partner.

Q: What is included when a bride and groom books with you?

A: Every booking is different, but we provide the venue, high quality food and beverage, experienced service staff, basic decorations, your own coordinator to assist with the process and the amazing ‘Mount Lofty House experience’!

Q: Any vendors you prefer to work with?

A: Yes, we have a recommended supplier list that we give to couples upon booking with us.

Q: Are there any other additional fees brides and grooms should be aware of?

Q: No, we make our booking contracts simple, straightforward and easy to understand.
